Yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people suffering from an injury or chronic pain. A trained yoga therapist adapts a specific set of postures, breathing techniques, and meditation for the patient based on their body, nature and condition.
Yoga therapy is safe, effective, and natural. It helps increase strength, spine/joint flexibility, postural awareness, and circulation. It helps decrease pain, blood pressure, anxiety, and the chance of a repeat injury. Through this technique many patients can avoid painful and expensive medical treatments for their injuries.
What distinguishes Neha from other yoga therapists is her 10+ years of experience as a physical therapist. If you already suffer from a yoga injury, Neha can help you modify and safely return to your practice. If you want to start a new yoga practice but are injured, Neha can safely guide you through the appropriate postures, mediation and breath work. Each patient will also be educated on the indications and contraindications specific to their condition/diagnosis.
Initial Evaluation: 60 minutes
Your first session will be a thorough yoga therapy evaluation that includes examining your alignment, breath and movement in specifically chosen yoga postures for your injury or condition. After gathering all the information, Neha will design an individualized routine to help improve strength, flexibility, movement and function. Neha uses yoga blocks, bolsters, blankets and chairs to ensure comfort and proper alignment.
Follow up session: 30-60 minutes
A follow up yoga therapy session with Neha might include specific manual techniques, followed by therapeutic yoga postures, and ending in breath work and mediation. Neha has found that the combination of these treatments is key to supporting your body’s innate healing capacity.
